Layon's impactful play, The Girls Of Summer, which centers on Black women playing baseball in the 1940s, is set for a regional 3 week run at Delaware Theatre Company in Wilmington, Delaware, from October 22nd to November 9th, 2025.
The play brings to light the untold story of the Red Diamonds, a fictional all-Black female baseball team from 1946. As they gear up to face the reigning champions, the Racine Belles, in a historic match, their world is thrown into chaos when their cherished coach mysteriously disappears. What starts as an intense quest for triumph soon spirals into a web of secrets—betrayal and deception threaten to unravel everything they’ve worked for.
